Presentation:
During his tenure with DNS, Vic had the opportunity to conduct research on Economic, Human, and Social Development in Austria, Finland, and Sweden. It was the most informative experience of his life. The most related event was a tour of a conservation sub division in Helsinky, Finland. There were several presentations on energy sources and systems; radiation heating was the most outstanding and applicable to the circumstances in North America. Several months of research was carried out on thermal envelopes and energy sources. Vic’s conclusion was that North America was several years behind the D I N codes of Europe.
Being very impressed with radiation systems, Vic contacted WIRSBO (Sweden) and became the product distributors for Western Canada. SCI Sustainable Concepts Inc. who supplied designed and/or installed radiation systems in every region of Canada except the Eastern Arctic, Newfoundland, and P.E.I., also across the U.S. from Mich. to Washington State. Numerous houses and several industrial projects were completed. An example of what can be done with radiation technology and DIN code:
The design spec. on a 50,000 sq. ft. project in Northern Sask was for 25 Btu's per sq. ft. 1,250,000,000 Btu's. They energy source was lake water using 4 - 12 ton geothermal units, the heating load was supplied by 7.5 Btu's per sq. ft. and the total load including DHW, make up air, electrical service was 8.6 Btu's per sq. ft..
